Heavy Clutch Job With a Few Extra Challenges

When the Right Decision Is to Stop

This clutch job looked achievable at first, but once we got properly into it, the access problem became clear.

Several components were in the way and the vehicle was heavy enough that we took extra precautions with support before going any further. Safety came first, so additional axle stands and solid timber support were added rather than relying on the jack alone.

Once the job was assessed properly, it became obvious that completing the clutch replacement would require cutting part of the bodywork and welding it back into place afterwards.

That crossed the line from sensible mobile mechanical work into a much more invasive repair than we were prepared to carry out on a driveway.

So rather than forcing the job, risking damage or pretending it was something it wasn’t, we stopped there and advised that it needed a workshop better equipped for that level of dismantling and fabrication.
