Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 22/09/2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the services provided by Inverness

Mobile Mechanic (Uplift Transport LTD). By booking or using our vehicle mechanic or related services, you agree to the following:

Terms & Conditions - the basics

1. Services Provided
Inverness Mobile Mechanic provides mobile vehicle diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs for cars, 4x4s and light vans across Inverness and the surrounding Highlands.
Services may include diagnostics and fault finding, routine servicing, brakes, suspension, batteries, starting and charging faults, MOT repairs, clutches, drivetrain work and general mechanical repairs.
Not every repair is suitable for mobile completion. Where a vehicle requires a ramp, specialist equipment, extensive workshop time or facilities unavailable at the vehicle’s location, we may recommend or help arrange recovery or referral to a suitable garage.
Services are subject to availability, suitable access, weather conditions, vehicle condition and the nature of the work required.
2. Quotes, Estimates & Additional Work
Where possible, we will provide a quote or estimate before work begins.
A quote based on information supplied before inspection may change if further faults, damaged components or additional work are discovered once the vehicle is examined or dismantled.
We will not knowingly carry out significant additional chargeable work without discussing it with you first.
Where an exact price has not been agreed, charges will be reasonable for the work carried out. Consumer services must be supplied with reasonable care and skill.
3. Parts
Replacement parts may be sourced by Inverness Mobile Mechanic or, where agreed, supplied by the customer.
Where parts are specially ordered for a booked repair, we may require payment for those parts in advance.
We are not responsible for defects, incorrect specification or failure of customer-supplied parts, although we will take reasonable care when fitting them.
Any manufacturer or supplier warranty applying to parts we provide will remain subject to that supplier’s terms.
4. Payments
Payment is due when the agreed work is completed unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.
We accept  bank transfer, cash and card.
Deposits or advance payment may be requested for parts, larger repairs or specially ordered components.
Any additional work or parts agreed during the repair will be added to the final invoice.
5. Mobile Working Conditions
The customer must provide a reasonably safe and suitable location for mobile work to be carried out.
Some repairs cannot safely or practically be completed at the roadside, on uneven ground, in restricted parking areas or during unsuitable weather.
We reserve the right to stop, postpone or refuse work where conditions create an unreasonable safety risk to the mechanic, customer, vehicle or members of the public.
6. Vehicle Condition & Pre-Existing Faults
Customers should tell us about any known faults, previous repairs, modifications or relevant vehicle history before work begins.
Inverness Mobile Mechanic is not responsible for pre-existing defects or damage unrelated to the work we have carried out.
Working on older, heavily corroded or previously repaired vehicles may reveal additional problems that were not visible before dismantling. Where this happens, we will explain the issue and discuss the available options with you.
7. Diagnostics
Diagnostic testing is intended to identify the most likely cause of a fault based on the symptoms, fault codes, measurements and condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection.
A diagnostic visit does not guarantee that every fault can be identified immediately, particularly where faults are intermittent or where further dismantling or specialist testing is required.
Where further investigation is necessary, we will explain the recommended next step before additional work is carried out.
8. Customer Responsibilities
You must provide accurate information about:

  • the vehicle make, model and registration

  • the symptoms or work required

  • the vehicle’s location

  • any known faults or previous relevant repairs

You must also ensure we have permission to work on the vehicle and reasonable access to it at the agreed time.
9. Appointments, Delays & Cancellations
Appointment times are given in good faith.
Travel delays, earlier jobs taking longer than expected, weather, parts availability and other circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect arrival or completion times. Where possible, we will keep you informed.
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please give as much notice as possible.
Where parts have already been specially ordered or costs have already reasonably been incurred for your booking, those costs may still be payable.
For some bookings made online, by telephone or away from business premises, statutory cancellation rights may apply. UK consumer rules can provide a 14-day cancellation period for certain off-premises service contracts, subject to exceptions and rules where the customer asks for work to begin during that period.
10. Recovery & Third-Party Garages
Where a vehicle cannot be repaired safely or practically at its location, we may help arrange recovery through Inverness Recovery or recommend a suitable local garage.
Recovery companies, garages and other independent third parties provide their services under their own terms and remain responsible for the work they carry out.
Where we arrange or coordinate third-party services on your behalf, we will make it clear where a separate business is providing that service.
11. Liability
We will take reasonable care when working on your vehicle and will provide services with reasonable care and skill as required by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under UK consumer law.
We are not responsible for losses caused by faults or damage that existed before our work began, or for consequential losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the service was booked.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any work carried out, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and give us the opportunity to inspect the vehicle and address the issue.
We will aim to deal with complaints fairly and promptly.
13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland.
Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts, subject to any rights the customer may have under applicable consumer law.
